Experience: the Royal Palace of Caserta

The Royal Palace of Caserta is the largest royal residence in the world.
It was designed by Luigi Vanvitelli, and the works started in 1752.
Since the Caserta landscape was very beautiful, the Bourbons decided to build it in these areas.
But also for security reasons, being far from the sea and not too far from the beloved city of Naples.
From the beginning, the intent was to make it compete with the Palace of Versailles.
The Palace, although already inhabited since 1780, was in fact only completed in 1845 and covers an area of approximately 50,000 square meters.
It is structured in 5 floors and has 5 courtyards. A majestic grand staircase, a Palatine Chapel, a theater and historic apartments.
The Park and the Waterfall are the further elements that give the building that elegance and majesty that since 1997 have elevated it to UNESCO heritage.

And now it rises right here,
a few tens of meters from our B&B!

To top it off, inside the Royal Palace you can also admire a collection of contemporary art of the highest level "Terrae Motus" commissioned by the Neapolitan gallerist Lucio Amelio. With works by Warhol, Haring, Beuys and other great artists.
